More Condos Coming to Downtown Brooklyn
According to this article on GlobeSt.com, financing has been secured to convert the former Verizon building at 7 MetroTech Center (on the corner of Willoughby and Bridge) into condos and almost 35,000 sq. feet of retail space.
Just some more evidence that we’ve all invested in an area of tremendous change and development…

I just hope that it isnt over developed and there is a glut of housing!

I think it just seems that way, because there really was minimal to no housing in the area until now. It’s an area that will always be attractive simply due to its convenient location (I mean - right off the Brooklyn Bridge and surrounded by like eight train choices… doesn’t get much better than that) and also close proximity to Borough Hall, the court houses and several universities… oh, and the lovely 10-minute walk to the Promenade! OK, I’ll stop now.
On the flip side - We used to live in WIlliamsburg (now that area will be in a glut of housing with the amount of projects in the pipeline), and I never really understood the hype… those people apparantly have never been crushed on the platform waiting to get on the L train

i agree with lori. downtown brooklyn and the immediate area have the third highest concentration of subway lines in the city. it’s closer to downtown than midtown is. oh - and LIRR goes into it, too. So there’s no reason why it should been densely populated with tons more restaurants, bars, stores, shops, services…
lori - i work with vicky. pysched for the antic!?
