		<description>i agree with lori. downtown brooklyn and the immediate area have the third highest concentration of subway lines in the city. it's closer to downtown than midtown is. oh - and LIRR goes into it, too. So there's no reason why it should been densely populated with tons more restaurants, bars, stores, shops, services... :)

		<description>I think it just seems that way, because there really was minimal to no housing in the area until now.  It's an area that will always be attractive simply due to its convenient location (I mean - right off the Brooklyn Bridge and surrounded by like eight train choices... doesn't get much better than that) and also close proximity to Borough Hall, the court houses and several universities... oh, and the lovely 10-minute walk to the Promenade!  OK, I'll stop now.

On the flip side - We used to live in WIlliamsburg (now that area will be in a glut of housing with the amount of projects in the pipeline), and I never really understood the hype... those people apparantly have never been crushed on the platform waiting to get on the L train ;-)</description>
